When should you dial 999?
The police service depends heavily on members of the public to use the 999 telephone service appropriately
in order to prevent crime and catch criminals.
There are two instances in which 999 should be immediately called:
- When you know of a criminal offence and the offender(s) is/are still at the scene.
- Where there is a threat to life or limb or serious damage to property that could be prevented.
When speaking with the telephone operator, please give them as much information as you can about the
incident, its exact location, and try to give detailed descriptions of the offender(s).
For Non-Emergencies - dial 101 or, preferably, send an message via the website
Our police area is Henleaze; there can be a long delay so use the website
